Today marks a significant milestone for me—my first entry in a new journey of self-discovery through journaling. As I dive into The Well-Watered Woman by Gretchen Saffles, I find myself reflecting deeply on my desires and the calls I feel on my heart. Chapter 11 particularly resonates with me, where she discusses her role in women's ministry. For those of us navigating similar paths or seeking purpose, let's explore this journey together.
The Calling: Understanding Your Heart's Desires
Many women feel the tug of something greater within them, an urge to engage more deeply in their communities and to serve one another. Yet, when this yearning arises, so often do insecurities and fears. We question our skills, our value, and our worthiness. Perhaps you’ve asked yourself: "Am I truly equipped for this?" or "What if I fail?" These ‘little t truths’ often whisper lies into our hearts, telling us we’re not enough.
However, the reality—the capital ‘T Truth—points us back to God’s assurances. In 2 Corinthians 12:9, we are reminded, "My grace is ALL you need." This powerful statement reaffirms that our inadequacies are overshadowed by His grace and strength. If you too feel called to a ministry or a mission, know that your perceived limitations do not define your potential.
Rebuking the Lies: Embracing Faith Over Fear
When self-doubt strikes, rebuke it fiercely! In my recent journaling, I am claiming victory over the lies that seek to undermine my calling. Our prayers invite God to transform our fears into faith. As we embrace His promise in Isaiah 41:10, “Do not fear, for I am with you,” we find comfort that we’re not alone in this endeavor.
It’s important to recognize that everyone experiences hesitation, but it’s how we respond that matters. Surround yourself with scripture that uplifts and nourishes your spirit.
The Journey of Transformation: Asking God for Guidance
Feeling called is only the beginning; the next step involves aligning our hearts and actions with God’s will. Take time in prayer, asking Him to show you the paths He has laid out before you. Express your desire to be used by Him and to help others in their journeys. In my own prayers, I’ve asked God to reveal the areas in my life that need transformation and to fill me with the Holy Spirit.
A key piece of this journey is humility—recognizing that we are imperfect vessels. Just like Moses, who expressed doubts about his speaking abilities in Exodus 4:12, we can take comfort in knowing that God will provide us with the tools we need to fulfill our calling.
Fueling the Fire: Maintaining Your Passion
God has placed His passions within us for a reason. Tending to that fire is vital as we navigate through feelings of doubt or uncertainty. Surround yourself with uplifting communities of women who share similar values and passions. Engage in conversations that stir your soul—books, podcasts, and local groups can be immense sources of encouragement.
Remember, you are not meant to walk this path alone. Your pursuit of serving God in women's ministry is not just about you—it's about the connections and impacts you can make in other women's lives. Let your heart open to the possibility of mentoring, teaching, or hosting groups where women can find strength and community.
In Conclusion: Trusting the Process
As we embark on this journey from being ‘Ditto’ to ‘Divine,’ remember that it’s a process steeped in intimacy with God. It’s about surrendering your fears and embracing the beautiful call He has placed on your heart. Whether in ministry or daily interactions, you have the power to make a difference.
So, to all the women out there feeling the tug of God’s call on your heart—trust in His plans, step into your purpose, and know that you are more than equipped. Pray, journal, act, and watch how He will transform you and those around you… one step at a time.
